In Italy,  coffee made in the classic mocha style  is a must to start each day and accompany us on sleepy afternoons. Everyone has a coffee maker at home, with that ground powder with an unmistakable aroma.

But do you know that you can actually do a lot of things with  coffee grounds?  One in particular,  especially in summer  , when there is a problem that arises every year and that we all, absolutely everyone, try to eradicate. Let’s find out what we are talking about and how to use coffee grounds.

Coffee grounds against mosquitoes: how to use them

Summer is very nice: the heat, the sea, the holidays and the longed-for relaxation arrive, but with them also appear  our enemies, the mosquitoes  .

Coffee grounds on the floor

These super annoying insects, which fill everyone with hateful bites and stings, are difficult to eradicate. Everyone tries everything:  mosquito traps, mosquito repellents, citronella candles  , etc., but  coffee grounds are really a salvation.

Well, yes, in case you didn’t know, coffee grounds also have this fantastic property of repelling mosquitoes, but how?

There is a precise method to use them, very easy and very fast, let’s see it together.

How to use coffee grounds against mosquitoes

It is very easy to use coffee grounds against mosquitoes, nothing complicated, just follow certain steps.

First,  let the coffee grounds dry thoroughly  after making the mocha. Then take  a small container and cover it with aluminum foil.

Once prepared, dry soil is placed inside and then at this point it must be taken outside on a balcony and  burned, to spread the aroma in the environment.  Obviously, then, once the house has filled with aroma, turn off the fire.

You will see that the mosquitoes will not come, scared away by the strong aroma of burnt coffee grounds.

Other natural methods against mosquitoes

If this method has not satisfied you, there are many other natural solutions to repel mosquitoes.

For example,  vinegar and lemon are two effective ingredients  against these annoying insects. Both have a smell that mosquitoes don’t like, and when they are mixed together the effect is even stronger. Cut some lemon slices and sprinkle them with white vinegar, then place them in a bowl: this will be enough to scare away flying insects.

There are also many essential oils that are effective against mosquitoes: for example, lavender  , lemon, tea tree, lemongrass, neem, mint and geranium  . Of all of them, a few drops, perhaps in a room diffuser, are enough to keep them away.

They can also be applied to the skin as natural repellents. Furthermore, there are  plants in nature that are truly “repellent”  against mosquitoes.

These include  lemongrass, verbena, geranium, basil, lavender and mint  that you can plant in your garden, if you have one, or in a pot on your balcony. They should keep mosquitoes away, at least for a while.

Finally, the fan can also help keep them away: this is because its movement dilutes the carbon dioxide that we emit when we breathe and which attracts mosquitoes, and the air flow will make it difficult for them to fly.
