Growing orchids at home is a process that requires a certain amount of care and precise knowledge. Orchids are beautiful and delicate tropical plants that can be grown at home or in the garden. Proper care when growing an orchid is the foundation for its growth and prosperity.

It is possible to propagate orchids   by taking a few precautions. To learn how to propagate orchids, I recommend following the procedure described here.

Orchids in pots and in the garden.

Orchids are plants that can be grown in pots or in the garden. Potted orchids can be grown by choosing the   right pot, temperature, and light   . Since they require a certain level of humidity to thrive, it’s important to know how to create the right climate.

In this regard, it’s important to know that   moss  is the most suitable soil   for potted orchids   because it retains moisture. A   healthy orchid   should always be well hydrated by misting the plant regularly or keeping it in a humid room in the house.

Potted orchids   require a certain amount of light, which can vary depending on the season.   Therefore, to grow and last a long time, potted orchids require warmth, good air circulation, and watering.

When growing in garden soil, it’s best to choose the right type of   outdoor orchid   . In general,   orchids are best grown outdoors in their growing pot   , which should be removed the following spring for acclimatization. It’s always best to place them in shady locations with loamy soil.

Tips to avoid ruining them

The first mistake to avoid is cleaning the orchid roots that are sticking out of the pot. Another important aspect is choosing the right soil. Orchids should never be exposed to direct sunlight. The temperature required by an orchid ranges between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius. It is also very important to avoid temperature fluctuations to   avoid damaging the orchids.

Watering is a fundamental aspect of an orchid’s survival. Orchid substrate   typically   consists of pine or fir bark, which releases water gradually.

Never allow water to settle on the leaves, do not wet the flowers, or leave the vase in standing water. The best way   to water an orchid   is from above or by submerging it in a basin.

The secret of many orchids.

To determine if an orchid can be saved and then propagated, simply remove the outer part of the stem and check if it’s still green inside. Then,   simply cut the branch in two   , and with the help of a lit candle, drip wax onto both ends of the two branches. After applying the wax evenly, wait for it to dry.

In the meantime, you’ll need to consume some  fresh ginger  , whose properties promote the germination of orchid seedlings. After cutting a piece of fresh ginger, store the pieces in a glass jar. After adding about 300 ml of hot water, seal and cover the container.   To create a nutritious ginger mix for orchids   , let the ginger sit for about 24 hours.

Potted orchids

Using the strained ginger mixture, soak the two orchid branches for about half an hour. While the   stems absorb the mixture   , you’ll need to collect some moss, which you’ll disinfect by simply soaking it in the mixture for 30 minutes.

Next, take two plastic cups and cut two holes in the bottom with a cutter. Squeeze out the  disinfected moss and distribute it on the bottom of the two cups.  Place the two orchid stems   in the center of a cup of   moss and moisten them with water.

Before placing the orchid pot   in a dry location, place the other plastic cup over the pot to seal it. Within three weeks, the small orchids will begin to grow with occasional spraying of water. Only after they have developed can the orchids be separated and planted in separate pots.
